PROGOTI (People’s Research on Grassroots Ownership & Traditional Initiative) a local Organization at Satkhira, a densely populated area in south-west coastal part of Bangladesh.
PROGOTI is now developed to the tasks for up gradation of social, cultural, educational, economic and environmental degradation of the people, particularly the people living in the coastal belt with a theme “development and progress cannot be achieved without human development”. At the same time climate change is also considered on the whole working process on the way of development- PROGOTI believes it honestly.
PROGOTI has a good experience in emergency relief and rehabilitation programs, as the organization has accomplished massive relief and rehabilitation program for the cyclone AILA affected people. Organization has also experienced on adaptation program on agriculture, aquaculture, livestock, infrastructure and WASHES activities in related to the southwest part of Bangladesh.
PROGOTI is specially rights based campaign organization. By this time PROGOTI has gathered experience through some successful campaigns such as Adi jamuna Rive Rescue Movement , Aila Embankment Reconstruction Movement and Disaster Management Act, Safe water rights, Agricultural Labor Law, Indigenous People’s Right, Access to the Right to Public Property, etc. Organization now mainly focuses on adaptation program with climatic affected community through ensuring climate justice in south –west Costal part of Bangladesh .
PROGOTI has taken initiative against religious extremism especially Ahamadia (Kadiani) protection movement as well as has taken protection measures against state concern pressure to the minority community .
PROGOTI has Special skills on event management . Organize fairs at rural level since 2008 and Boishakhi fairs, Pitha festival, Sanitation fairs, Tree fairs, Science fair & Climate Finance fair etc.
